Pepe, Artur Agostinho prize as person of the year in Portugal in 2012
“It is a very significant honor and I give thanks to my teammates because without them I would not have won it,” stated the Real Madrid defender
Pepe received the Artur Agostinho prize, which is given by the sports paper Record to the person of the year in Portugal. The Real Madrid defender receives the seventh edition of this prize, which is named for the former editor-in-chief of the publication, who died in March of 2011 at 90 years of age. Previous winners of this prize include the Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo and coach José Mourinho.
Pepe expressed his happiness at having his name added to other distinguished figures from the world of football: “I am very happy to have received this prize and I am grateful for the support of the people who believe in me. It is a very significant honor and I give thanks to my teammates because without them I would not have won it. I am very happy and excited to receive it.” Cristiano Ronaldo, Coentrão, and Jorge Mendes, the White fullback’s representative, were present at the awards ceremony and congratulated Pepe
